Abstract

Groundwater wells are a water source that is widely used by people in Cibinong District, Bogor Regency. Cibinong District is one of the most populous districts and the center of government in Bogor Regency. In 2019, Bogor regency is recorded that only 36% of the people living use PDAM water (piped water). However, the high use of groundwater is something that needs to be taken into consideration again because of the cases of diarrhea in Cibinong District, there were 12,305 cases recorded in 2019. This research identified the quality of groundwater in residents’ houses by consideration of the sanitary conditions. The tested quality of the groundwater will be seen based on the type of well used (dug wells or boreholes) and the distance between the well and the septic tank (less than 10 meters and more than 10 meters). The analysis was done according to standard methods for examination and reported based on The Minister of Health of Republic Indonesia, regulation Number 2,the Year 2023 prescribed limit for drinking water. The range of parameters for boreholes and hand-dug wells respectively were: Total coliform: 27 CFU/100 mL to 152 CFU/100 mL and 1 CFU/100 mL to 73 CFU/100 mL; Escherichia coli: 14 CFU/100 mL to 82 CFU/100 mL and 0 to 18; pH: 3.9 to 4.28 and 4.41 to 6.56; TDS: 128.5 mg/L to 192.5 mg/L and 100 mg/L to 140.5 mg/L. The Total coliform, E. coli, pH did not meet the quality standards. Based on the Pollution Index Groundwater method, 80% of the samples are in high pollution level and 20% of the samples are in insignificant pollution level. Beside the depth of the well and the distance to the septic tank, the construction of the well and septic tank also influences the groundwater quality. Apart from that, this research will also find out how much residents are dependent on using groundwater. This dependence will be seen from what activities they carry out in using groundwater and the availability of water sources they have through the questionnaire. Through the questionnaire, 55.56% of the respondents only have groundwater as their drinking water option, so that amount are people who depend on groundwater existence.
