Abstract

Indonesia, sebagai negara yang kaya akan keberagaman suku bangsa, memiliki warisan budaya yang telah berkembang selama berabad-abad. Budaya lokal, termasuk aksara tradisional seperti aksara Jawa, merupakan bagian penting dari identitas nasional. Aksara Jawa, yang juga dikenal sebagai Hanacaraka atau Carakan, merupakan salah satu aksara tradisional Nusantara yang digunakan untuk menulis bahasa Jawa. Namun, minat yang semakin berkurang terhadap aksara Jawa di kalangan generasi muda menimbulkan keprihatinan akan pelestariannya. Metode pengajaran di sekolah dasar mengalami kesulitan dalam menarik minat siswa, pendekatan konvensional cenderung membuat siswa kurang antusias terhadap pembelajaran materi aksara Jawa. Pada sebuah penelitian, Octalysis framework diterapkan untuk menentukan unsur motivasi terkuat dalam setiap genre gim, dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa gim bergenre RPG (Role-Playing Game) memiliki intensitas motivasi yang tinggi. Motivasi dalam bermain gim memiliki pengaruh signifikan dalam memotivasi pemain untuk beraktivitas. Memanfaatkan hasil penelitian tersebut, penelitian ini merancang aplikasi gim edukasi yang diberi nama "JAWARA" (Jagoan Aksara Jawa). Pengembangan aplikasi ini didasarkan pada prinsip core drive Development & Accomplishment dalam Octalysis framework, yang menekankan pada pengembangan komitmen untuk mencapai tujuan melalui tantangan dan pencapaian. Metode skala likert digunakan sebagai metode pengujian penerapan core drive Development & Accomplishment, hasil menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kuesioner sebesar 92%. Manfaat yang diharapkan dari penelitian ini adalah dapat membantu meningkatkan minat belajar, motivasi, dan keterampilan siswa SD kelas V dalam memahami materi aksara Jawa.

Indonesia, as a country rich in ethnic diversity, has a cultural heritage that has developed over centuries. Local culture, including traditional scripts such as Javanese character, is an important part of national identity. Javanese character, also known as Hanacaraka or Carakan, is one of the traditional scripts of the archipelago used to write the Javanese language. However, the diminishing interest in Javanese character among the younger generation raises concerns for its preservation. Teaching methods in elementary schools have difficulty in attracting students' interest, conventional approaches tend to make students less enthusiastic about learning Javanese character material. In one study, the Octalysis framework was applied to determine the strongest motivational elements in each game genre, and the results showed that RPG (Role-Playing Game) genre games have high motivational intensity. Motivation in gaming has a significant influence in motivating players to perform activities. Utilizing the results of this research, this study designed an educational game application called "JAWARA" (Jagoan Aksara Jawa). The development of this application is based on the core drive principle of Development & Accomplishment in the Octalysis framework, which emphasizes the development of commitment to achieve goals through challenges and achievements. The Likert scale method was used as a testing method for the implementation of the Development & Accomplishment core drive, the results showed an average questionnaire score of 92%. The expected benefits of this research are that it can help increase learning interest, motivation, and skills of grade V elementary school students in understanding Javanese character material.
