Abstract

Indonesia memiliki banyak pelabuhan dan rute pelayaran yang perlu dikelola agar pelayaran dapat berjalan dengan aman. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan pengerukan (dredging) untuk menjaga kedalaman alur pelayaran dan kolam pelabuhan. Hasil pengerukan akan dipindahkan ke tempat penimbunan atau dumping area. Pengaruh arus terhadap sebaran TSS di sekitar dumping area perlu dikaji agar mengetahui bagaimana persebaran sedimen melayang akibat kegiatan dumping di sekitar dumping area dan musim yang paling mempengaruhi kegiatan dumping. Penelitian ini menggunakan perangkat lunak Delft3D untuk melakukan pemodelan hidrodinamika. Data penunjang pada penelitian ini adalah batimetri, pasang surut, angin, dan sedimen. Dari hasil pemodelan diketahui bahwa perairan Karang Jamuang dipengaruhi oleh musim. Dimana kecepatan arus di musim barat cenderung lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan kecepatan arus di musim timur. Sebaran TSS dipengaruhi oleh arus laut, sehingga pada musim timur TSS pun cenderung terdorong mengikuti arah arus daripada mengendap ke dasar perairan. Sebaran TSS yang dianggap mempengaruhi ekosistem perairan di sekitar dumping area adalah yang memiliki konsentrasi lebih dari 25 mg/L dan berada di luar dumping area. Dari 3 skenario yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini, terbukti bahwa musim timur membutuhkan waktu yang lebih lama untuk sebaran TSS mengendap hingga mencapai konsentrasi yang dianggap tidak mempengaruhi ekosistem perairan dibandingkan pada musim barat. Hal ini terjadi karena adanya pengaruh arus yang memiliki kecepatan tinggi dan pola arus yang turbulen, sehingga menghambat TSS untuk langsung mengendap ke dasar perairan. Oleh karena itu, berdasarkan penelitian ini baiknya kegiatan dumping dilakukan pada musim barat agar meminimalisir pengaruh kegiatan dumping terhadap ekosistem perairan di sekitar dumping area.

Indonesia has many ports and shipping routes that need to be managed so that shipping can run safely. One of the ways is by dredging to maintain the depth of the fairway and port pond. Sediments from dredging activities will be dumped to the dumping area. The influence of currents on the distribution of suspended sediment around the dumping area needs to be studied in order to know how the distribution of suspended sediment due to dumping activities around the dumping area and the season that most affects dumping activities. This study uses Delft3D software to perform a hydrodynamic model. The data that used in this research are bathymetry, tides, wind, and sediment. From the model, it is known that Karang Jamuang waters are influenced by the season. Where the current speed in the west monsoon tends to be lower than the amount of the current speed in the east monsoon. The distribution of suspended sediment is influenced by ocean currents, so in the east monsoon suspended sediment also tends to be driven along the currents direction rather than sinking to the bottom of the water. Suspended sediment distribution that is considered to affect the aquatic ecosystem around the dumping area is the one that has a concentration of more than 25 mg/L and is outside the dumping area. From the 3 scenarios carried out in this study, it is clear that the east monsoon takes longer time for suspended sediment distribution to sank to a concentration that is considered not affect the aquatic ecosystem than the west monsoon. This occurs due to the high speed currents and turbulent current pattern, which inhibits the suspended sediment from sinking directly to the bottom of the water. So, based on this research, it is recommended that dumping activities are carried out in the west monsoon in order to minimize the influence of dumping activities on the aquatic ecosystem around the dumping area.
