Abstract

============================================================
Arc flash is a phenomenon that must be considered in an electrical system because it is closely related to equipment security and worker safety. In the United States, an average of 30,000 arc flash incidents and 400 fatalities are recorded each year. Therefore, further analysis of arc flash is needed to provide optimal protection for electrical equipment and workers. The standard that is often used in arc flash analysis is IEEE 1584, this standard will be used in this research as a basis for calculating arcing current, incident energy (incident energy), and arc flash boundary. Research related to the consideration of arc flash in the coordination of protection at Substation 13 Tuban Factory 4 PT. Semen Indonesia shows that there is still inappropriate protection coordination, causing the incident energy to increase. This is due to the Fault Clearing Time (FCT) which is still quite high. After resetting the overcurrent relay, the results showed a decrease in incident energy on two buses, namely Bus 474FN02M01 and Bus 834TM291. The magnitude of the incident energy is linear with the fault clearance time (FCT). The final results of simulations and calculations show that in determining the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of the analyzed buses there are still buses with PPE levels of more than four, so a decrease in FCT is carried out by adding differential relays. Arc flash simulation results using ETAP 19.0.1 software and manual calculations using IEEE 1584-2018 standards show results that are not much different, and no bus exceeds level four PPE.
