Abstract

Produksi material kayu lapis di Indonesia mengalami kenaikan yang cukup signifikan, sehingga material kayu lapis dapat dengan ditemukan dimana saja dan memiliki harga yang relatif terjangkau. Pengaplikasian teknik kerf bending pada kayu lapis dapat meningkatkan value baik dari segi estetika maupun ekonomi, sehingga kayu lapis dapat memiliki potensi pengembangan menjadi sebuah produk mode. Indonesia merupakan salah satu produsen tekstil terbesar di dunia, terutama pada sektor tenun tangan. Meskipun teknologi canggih telah memasuki dunia tenun, masih banyak pengrajin tenun tangan yang membuat kain secara manual, menciptakan nilai eksklusif dalam setiap lembaran kain. Terdapat sebuah keluaran baru dalam industri kain tenun tangan, yaitu kain tenun tangan kontemporer. Tas, terutama bagi wanita, bukan hanya alat pembawa barang, tetapi juga sebagai ekspresi identitas. Dengan menggabungkan kayu lapis dan kain tenun tangan, perancangan ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan produk tas wanita yang memiliki konsep sejalan dengan gaya masyarakat yang lebih kontemporer. Perancangan ini juga berpotensi untuk meningkatkan potensi pengembangan produk tenun tangan dan kayu lapis menggunakan teknik kerf bending, menciptakan kesadaran akan potensi material dalam fesyen kontemporer, serta mendukung pemberdayaan pengrajin tenun tangan. Produk tas wanita dengan material kayu lapis dan tenun tangan ini akan menargetkan para perempuan fashion enthusiasts yang menggunakan tas untuk keperluan bergaya. Perancangan ini menggunakan metode studi literatur, studi preferensi pengguna, eksperimen terutama pada teknik kerf bending, pengembangan desain, prototyping, dan pengujian produk. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini merupakan 3 seri tas tangan wanita dengan konsep yang sudah disesuaikan dengan target pengguna serta beberapa atribut pelengkapnya.

The production of plywood material in Indonesia has increased significantly, so plywood material can be found anywhere and has a relatively affordable price. The application of kerf bending technique on plywood can increase the value both in terms of aesthetics and economy, so that plywood can have the potential to be developed into a fashion product. Indonesia is one of the largest textile producers in the world, especially in the hand weaving sector. Although advanced technology has entered the world of weaving, there are still many handwoven craftsmen who make fabrics manually, creating an exclusive value in each piece of handwoven fabric. There is a new development in the handwoven fabric industry, which is contemporary handwoven fabric. Bags, especially for women, are not only a means of carrying goods, but also an expression of identity. By combining plywood and hand-woven fabric, this final project design aims to create a women's bag product that has a concept in line with the more contemporary style of society. This final project also aims to increase the development potential of handwoven and plywood products using kerf bending techniques, create awareness of the potential of materials in contemporary fashion, and support the empowerment of handwoven craftsmen. This women's bag product with plywood and hand-woven materials will be targeting women fashion enthusiasts who use bags for fashion and styling purposes. This final project uses the methods of literature study, user preference study, experimentation especially on kerf bending techniques, design development, prototyping, and product testing. The final results of this project are 3 series of women's handbags with concepts that have been adjusted to the target users as well as some complementary attributes.
