Abstract

Pompa centrifugal sebagai salah satu jenis pompa yang banyak dijumpai di kalangan industri. Impeller pada pompa sentrifugal memiliki pengaruh penting dalam pertimbangan desain dan optimalisasi pompa. Impeller memiliki fungsi memberikan energi kepada fluida cair sehingga energi yang dikandungnya bertambah besar. Penentuan jenis impeller dapat ditentukan berdasarkan kebutuhan pompa sentrifugal. Banyak faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi performa atau kinerja pompa sentrifugal, salah satunya adalah perubahan fluida kerja yang lebih kental. Modifikasi impeller dapat menjadi solusi untuk mengatasi penurunan performa pompa sentrifugal akibat perubahan fluida kerja. Impeller semi open merupakan jenis impeller yang lebih mampu menangani fluida kental dibandingkan impeller closed. Pada proses produksi pompa, untuk memperkecil biaya dalam proses produksinya, perhitungan menggunakan pendekatan numerik sangat mungkin dilakukan. Simulasi numerik dengan metode CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) menggunakan software ANSYS Fluent merupakan metode yang cukup sering digunakan, agar dapat mensimulasikan desain pompa dan menentukan performanya sebelum diproduksi. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian mengenai modifikasi pompa sentrifugal closed impeller menjadi semi open impeller dengan variasi sudut kelengkungan sudu outlet impeller, menggunakan fluida kerja air dan nira. Hasil pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi sudut kelengkungan sudu outlet dan merubah bentuk impeller dari closed impeller menjadi semi open impeller ketika menggunakan fluida viskositas tinggi dapat memengaruhi performa pompa sentrifugal. Sedangkan bertambahnya jumlah sudut kelengkungan sudu outlet dapat meningkatkan nilai head pada performa pompa tetapi dapat menurunkan efisiensi. Performa tertinggi penggunaan fluida air untuk nilai head terdapat pada closed impeller sebesar 22,08 meter dan nilai efisiensi sebesar 62,86% sedangkan Performa tertinggi penggunaan fluida nira ada pada semi open impeller sudut outlet β2 18° untuk efisiensi dengan nilai 50,16% dan head tertinggi pada sudut outlet β2 30° dengan nilai head sebesar 20,06 meter.

Centrifugal pumps are one type of pump that is widely found in industry. The impeller on the centrifugal pump has an important influence in the consideration of pump design and optimization. The impeller has the function of providing energy to the liquid fluid so that the energy it contains increases. Determination of the type of impeller can be determined based on the needs of the centrifugal pump. Many factors can affect the performance of a centrifugal pump, one of which is the change in viscous working fluid. Impeller modification can be a solution to overcome the decline in centrifugal pump performance due to changes in working fluid. A semi-open impeller is a type of impeller that is better able to handle viscous fluids than a closed impeller. In the pump production process, to minimize costs in the production process, calculations using a numerical approach are possible. Numerical simulation with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) method using ANSYS Fluent software is a method that is quite often used, in order to simulate the pump design and determine its performance before production. Therefore, research was conducted on the modification of a closed impeller centrifugal pump into a semi-open impeller with variations in the angle of curvature of the impeller outlet blades, using water and sap working fluids. The results in this study show that modifying the angle of curvature of the outlet blade and changing the shape of the impeller from a closed impeller to a semi-open impeller when using high-viscosity fluids can affect the performance of the centrifugal pump. While increasing the amount of curvature angle of the outlet blades can increase the head value of the pump performance but can decrease the efficiency. The highest performance using water fluid for head value is found in closed impeller of 22.08 meters and efficiency value of 62.86% while the highest performance using nira fluid is in semi-open impeller outlet angle β2 18° for efficiency with a value of 50.16% and the highest head at outlet angle β2 30° with a head value of 20.06 meters.
