Abstract

Alternative energy become the focus of the global world to transform into a cleaner energy. Therefore, in Indonesia as well as the world already thriving to transform into the cleaner energy through renewable energy alternative, for example is using the solar cell system. However, Indonesia which has the potential of abundant biomass energy sources seems not to consider the alternative much which shown by the data that only 0,23% of energy produced through the biomass power plant. On the other hand, diesel is still become the main energy source to produce the electricity. In order to determine the reasons behind it, this research is focusing from the investment and financial aspects for knowing how economical feasible to transform into biomass power plant rather than the conventional energy such as diesel power plant. The research will utilizes the Equivalent Uniform Annual Cost (EUAC) method as the main methodology and Energy Return on Investment will be utilize as well to support the determination of knowing fully from the cost, benefit economically, and how effective the energy that utilized. As the calculation shows that EUAC of PLTBm is the lower cost efficiently compared with PLTD with the different by USD175.701. Moreover, from the EROI the PLTBm has the better sustainability as well by the differences of 82% more than PLTD. To conclude the analysis, the sensitivity test has been conducted as well which shows that initial investment cost is the variable that need to be concern with because it will affect the EUAC result.
