Abstract

Dalam era digital yang terus berkembang, kebutuhan akan layanan komputasi awan telah meningkat secara signifikan. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi performa dari tiga platform manajemen cloud open-source yang populer: OpenStack, OpenNebula, dan VMware ESXi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan analisis komparatif terhadap performa virtualisasi yang ditawarkan oleh masing-masing platform dengan mempertimbangkan aspek seperti throughput disk, network throughput, serta performa CPU dan memori. Penelitian ini penting untuk membantu pengambil keputusan teknologi informasi dalam memilih platform yang paling sesuai dengan kebutuhan spesifik organisasi mereka. Metodologi yang digunakan meliputi identifikasi masalah, studi literatur terkait, analisis dan desain perangkat lunak, implementasi, pengujian, serta evaluasi performa dari tiap platform. Penerapan dan pengujian dilakukan pada infrastruktur Laboratorium Kota Cerdas dan Keamanan Siber Departemen Teknologi Informasi menggunakan parameter yang telah ditentukan. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berguna bagi pengembang dan organisasi yang tertarik dalam membangun sistem private cloud menggunakan teknologi virtualisasi terkini. Manfaat dari penelitian ini meliputi penyediaan referensi bagi pengembang lain dalam membangun dan membandingkan performa teknologi virtualisasi antar-platform. Selain itu, hasil penelitian dapat dimanfaatkan oleh Departemen Teknologi Informasi untuk kebutuhan virtualisasi dalam kegiatan perkuliahan serta eksplorasi terhadap teknologi virtualisasi. Dengan demikian, studi ini diharapkan dapat membantu dalam memajukan pemahaman dan implementasi infrastruktur komputasi awan yang efisien dan efektif sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna.

In the ever-evolving digital age, the need for cloud computing services has increased significantly. This research explores the performance of three popular open-source cloud management platforms: OpenStack, OpenNebula, and VMware ESXi. This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of the virtualization performance offered by each platform considering aspects such as disk throughput, network throughput, and CPU and memory performance. This research is important to assist information technology decision makers in choosing the platform that best suits their organization's specific needs. The methodology used includes problem identification, study of related literature, software analysis and design, implementation, testing, and performance evaluation of each platform. Implementation and testing were conducted on the infrastructure of the Department of Information Technology's Smart City and Cybersecurity Laboratory using predetermined parameters. This research provides useful insights for developers and organizations interested in building private cloud systems using the latest virtualization technologies. The benefits of this research include providing references for other developers in building and comparing the performance of inter-platform virtualization technologies. In addition, the research results can be utilized by the Department of Information Technology for virtualization needs in lecture activities as well as exploration of virtualization technology. Thus, this study is expected to help in advancing the understanding and implementation of efficient and effective cloud computing infrastructure in accordance with user needs.
