Abstract

Pada dasarnya arsitektur hibrid merupakan turunan dari disiplin arsitektur postmodern. Kehadiran arsitektur hibrid pada tahun 1960 untuk mengkritik arsitektur modern yang memiliki karakteristik monoton. Hingga perkembangan zaman, arsitektur hibrid dijadikan penyelesaian beberapa tantangan isu terutama di kawasan perkotaan. Rancangan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ketidakseimbangan antara permintaan dan penyediaan sebuah fasilitas hunian. Fenomena ini sering ditemukan pada kaum marjinal. Arsitektur hibrid diterapkan pada bangunan dengan cara penggabungan elemen, meliputi elemen arsitektural fisik dan non-fisik. Terdapat juga delapan kualitas arsitektur hibrid yang bisa diterapkan pada rancangan. Diharapkan rancangan arsitektur hibrid dapat menjadi suatu penyelesaian tantangan isu perkotaan khususnya Surabaya dengan tujuan meningkatkan kualitas kota.

Basically, hybrid architecture is a derivative of the postmodern architectural discipline. The presence of hybrid architecture in the 1960s criticized modern architecture which had monotonous characteristics. As time goes by, hybrid architecture has been used to solve several challenging issues, especially in urban areas. This design is motivated by the imbalance between demand and supply of residential facilities. This phenomenon is often found among marginalized groups. Hybrid architecture is applied to buildings by combining elements, including physical and non-physical architectural elements. There are also eight hybrid architectural qualities that can be applied to the design. It is hoped that the hybrid architectural design can be a solution to challenging urban issues, especially Surabaya, with the aim of improving the quality of the city.
