Abstract

Cipancuh Reservoir is a rain-fed reservoir that supplies the Cipancuh irrigation area, which spans 6,319 hectares. The water in the Cipancuh Reservoir comes from two sources: several small rivers upstream of the reservoir, which only flow during the rainy season, and rainwater during the rainy season. This results in insufficient water supply during the dry season. The high irrigation water demand and suboptimal operation patterns further exacerbate the water shortage during the dry season. To address this issue, a study was conducted to regulate the reservoir's water supply for irrigation and to increase planting intensity and crop yield. The study involved analyzing the availability of water flow against the demand flow based on the reservoir's operation patterns by creating seven alternative planting patterns based on planting time and crop varieties. Alternative planting pattern 6 had the highest planting intensity at 171% and a BCR (Benefit-Cost Ratio) of 1.512, with a total annual profit of IDR 255,895,028,627. Subsequently, three problem-solving analyses were performed: Problem-solving 1 involved adjusting the reservoir's operation pattern based on the reliable flow. Problem-solving 2 involved changing the planting pattern to alternative planting pattern 6. Problem-solving 3 involved both changing the planting pattern to alternative planting pattern 6 and adjusting the reservoir's operation pattern based on the reliable flow. Option 3 was determined to be the most optimal solution, with a planting intensity of 171% and a BCR of 1.512, yielding a total annual profit of IDR 255,895,028,627. The most optimal reservoir operation pattern used the reliable flow of the reservoir, which can be applied to Cipancuh Reservoir. The reservoir's operation pattern is based on the height of the gate openings in relation to the flow demand at each intake gate, with the intake gate 1 (S.P Cipancuh) varying from 0.01m to 0.6m, intake gate 2 (S.S Nambo) varying from 0.02m to 0.32m, intake gate 3 (S.S Kiarakurung) varying from 0.01m to 0.05m, and intake gate 4 (S.S Laijem) varying from 0.01m to 0.03m.
