Abstract

A city's public space serves an important role and function, and it is also one of the most important factors in shaping a city's identity. The rapid flow of globalization, on the other hand, influences the physical aspects of cities. People's quality of life will suffer because of the city's lack of physical aspects. A sense of place can be formed when people form an emotional bond with a location because of its uniqueness, which can develop over time. Enhancing the sense of place can be accomplished by optimizing public space. Depok City was chosen as the limiting context in the design because public space in Depok City is still less than ideal. In an effort to improve the quality of public space and sense of place, studies have found a link between the walking experience and the formation of a sense of place. There have been studies that suggest a link between the walking experience and the formation of a sense of place to improve the quality of public space and sense of place. Walking allows people to observe the physical aspects of their surroundings. As a result, optimal public space can increase a person's interest in walking, resulting in the formation of a sense of place. The design object chosen is a mobility hub in the Depok Baru station area. One of the keys to improving Depok City's sense of place is expected to be the provision of public space in the form of mobility hubs. Aside from that, optimal public space in Depok City, which increases walking interest, is seen as having the potential to improve the lifestyle and mobility of urban communities.
