Abstract

Nogogeni ITS Team is a research team focusing on energy-efficient electric vehicles. Energy optimization and recovery are essential, and one method is the regenerative braking system, which utilizes the BEMF (Back Electromotive Force) of the motor to gain recharging energy. Regenerative braking requires a motor control system to enable recharging, which involves several stages: field observation, hardware design, assembly, and integration of the hardware into the vehicle. The vehicle used, Nogogeni VIII EVO, was observed in the Nogogeni ITS Team workshop to obtain the necessary specifications for system design. The design will be evaluated according to IPC-2221 standards before the hardware fabrication process. No-load motor testing was conducted to ensure that the regenerative braking system works. Road test data collection was carried out with Nogogeni VIII EVO on Jalan Pondok Candra Indah. The controller was given a setpoint current and then assembled into the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the setpoint speed, and then the throttle was released. From the motor testing results, the system worked by decelerating from 617 rpm to 0 in 1.6 seconds. Additionally, the battery experienced an energy increase of 0.03896 kWh. In the road tests, the results varied depending on the setpoint current and the final speed before releasing the throttle. With a setpoint current of 4A and a final speed of 10 km/h, the vehicle stopped after a distance of 11 meters and gained a recharging energy of 0.257 kWh. At a setpoint current of 5A and a final speed of 20 km/h, the vehicle stopped after a distance of 15 meters, gaining 0.448 kWh of recharging energy.
