Abstract

Specialized Schools, or best known as Sekolah Luar Biasa have historically been the primary choice for ASD students. However, there is a growing trend of enrolling ASD children in inclusive schools, signaling a shift in educational approaches. Acknowledging the possible link between autism and sensory perception malfunction, the design of an autism care center that focuses on integrating education, therapy, and assisted living. This center aims to address diverse needs, including communication enhancement, motor skill development, behavior management, and sensory processing, while providing formal education. The primary design process includes using the force-based framework, emphasizing 3 main forces such as sensory quality, engagement, and local identity to shape the environment. The spatial perception method is applied, exploring three critical components: the recipient (individual with ASD), the target (intervention goals), and the situation (context of care). This method ensures a thorough understanding of the spatial requirements for effective care. The design approach centers on sensory design, focusing on the intricate relationship between individuals and their environment, specifically their sensory inputs. The core of the design concept involves creating a controlled built environment, incorporating elements such as spatial zoning, spatial sequencing, and compartmentalization. These strategies aim to optimize the sensory experience for individuals with ASD, fostering a conducive and supportive atmosphere.

Sekolah Luar Biasa atau lebih dikenal dengan Sekolah Luar Biasa secara historis menjadi pilihan utama siswa ASD di Indonesia. Namun, saat ini terdapat tren peningkatan pendaftaran anak ASD di sekolah inklusif, yang menunjukkan adanya pergeseran pendekatan pendidikan. Adanya hubungan antara autisme dan disfungsi persepsi sensorik, pusat perawatan autisme berfokus pada integrasi pendidikan, terapi, dan bantuan hidup. Pusat ini bertujuan untuk memenuhi berbagai kebutuhan, termasuk peningkatan komunikasi, pengembangan keterampilan motorik, manajemen perilaku, dan pemrosesan sensorik, sambil memberikan pendidikan formal. Proses desain terutama melibatkan penggunaan kerangka kerja berbasis force-based framework, yang menekankan tiga force utama seperti kualitas sensorik, keterlibatan, dan identitas lokal untuk membentuk lingkungan. Metode persepsi spasial diterapkan, mengeksplorasi tiga komponen penting: penerima (individu dengan ASD), target (tujuan intervensi), dan situasi (konteks perawatan). Metode ini memastikan pemahaman menyeluruh tentang persyaratan spasial untuk pengobatan yang efektif. Pendekatan desain berpusat pada desain sensorik, dengan fokus pada hubungan kompleks antara individu dan lingkungannya, khususnya masukan sensorik mereka. Inti dari konsep desain melibatkan penciptaan lingkungan bangunan yang terkendali, dengan menggabungkan elemen-elemen seperti zonasi spasial, urutan spasial, dan kompartementalisasi. Strategi ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pengalaman sensorik individu ASD, menciptakan suasana yang mendukung dan kondusif.
