Abstract

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical device used to produce internal body images. MRI scan results are used to diagnose diseases. To avoid incorrect diagnoses, it is necessary to perform Quality Control (QC) testing on MRI image quality. Examples of MRI QC parameters are Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Signal-to-Noise Ratio Uniformity (SNRU). QC testing requires considerable time for calculation and analysis. Therefore, this study aims to develop an automated QC MRI calculation program using the SNR and SNRU parameters with both single-image and dual-image methods. The results of this automated QC MRI testing were compared with manual testing using ImageJ, yielding an error rate of 3×10^(-3)%. This comparison demonstrates the accuracy of the developed QC MRI testing program. For the SNR testing results using both single-image and dual-image methods, the results were not significantly different. However, from these SNR calculations, it was found that the SNR value decreases as the echo time (TE) increases. Meanwhile, for the SNRU testing results using both single-image and dual-image methods, significant differences were observed. The SNRU in the dual-image method produced higher values but had better and more consistent ratios than the single-image SNRU testing results.
