Abstract
Taman Margasatwa Ragunan merupakan objek wisata unggulan yang berada di tengah Kota Jakarta Selatan. Sebagai kebun binatang tertua yang sudah berdiri sejak zaman kolonial, TMR menjadi destinasi favorit dengan jumlah pengunjung yang meningkat signifikan setiap tahunnya. Tercatat pada tahun 2022, jumlah pengunjung TMR meningkat 88% dibanding tahun sebelumnya yang merupakan masa pandemi. Hal ini menjadikannya objek wisata dengan pengunjung terbanyak kedua di Kota Jakarta.
Meskipun begitu, dengan kenaikan pengunjung tiap tahunnya, TMR harus menghadapi tantangan dalam mempertahankan jumlah pengunjung dengan menaikkan kepuasan berkunjung melalui pengalaman wisata yang berkesan. Salah satu aspek yang dapat meningkatkan pengalaman berkunjung adalah peningkatan fasilitas penunjang, seperti papan petunjuk (sign system) yang kenyataannya masih kurang memadai. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas sistem papan petunjuk yang tergolong tidak efektif dan efisien dapat membuat pengunjung kesulitan dalam menemukan lokasi kandang satwa atau fasilitas di TMR yang begitu luas kawasannya, bahkan dapat membuat pengunjung tersesat. Selain itu, pengaturan arus pengunjung yang kurang baik menyebabkan titik keramaian yang mengganggu kenyamanan dan pengalaman wisata. Titik keramaian ini berdampak negatif pada pengalaman pengunjung dan mengurangi niat untuk berkunjung kembali.
Perancangan desain lingkungan ini menggunakan metodologi design thinking yang berfokus pada human-centered design. Metode yang dipakai untuk mencari data antara lain observasi, kuesioner, depth interview, user interview, dan wawancara ahli. Hasil data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan user journey mapping, user persona, affinity diagram, dan skala likert. Terakhir hasil luaran perancangan ini diujicobakan dan dievaluasi melalui user testing. Luaran tersebut meliputi sistem area berupa pembagian zona, alur sirkulasi, peta pengunjung, sistem signage umum, dan sistem interaction signage.

Ragunan Wildlife Park, located in the heart of South Jakarta City, is a leading tourist attraction and the oldest zoo established since colonial times. It has become a favorite destination, with the number of visitors increasing significantly every year. In 2022, the number of TMR visitors increased by 88% compared to the previous year during the pandemic, making it the tourist attraction with the second most visitors in the city of Jakarta.
However, with the annual increase in visitors, TMR faces the challenge of maintaining visitor numbers by enhancing visitor satisfaction through memorable tourism experiences. One key aspect that can improve the visiting experience is the enhancement of supporting facilities, such as the sign systems, which are currently inadequate. Research shows that the quality of the signage system, which is classified as ineffective and inefficient, makes it difficult for visitors to find the location of animal enclosures or facilities within TMR's extensive area, leading to visitors getting lost. Additionally, poor visitor flow management causes crowding spots that disrupt tourism comfort and experience. These crowded spots negatively impact the visitor experience and reduce their intention to visit again.
This environmental design project employs a design thinking methodology focused on human-centered design. Data collection methods include observation, questionnaires, in-depth interviews, user interviews, and expert interviews. The collected data analyzed using user journey mapping, user personas, affinity diagrams, and the Likert scale. The final design output will be tested and evaluated through user testing. The output included an area system comprising zone division, circulation flow, visitor maps, a general signage system, and an interaction signage system.
