Abstract

Asbuton is a natural mineral that is widely used in the construction sector because it has long-lasting properties and strong adhesion. The use of Buton asphalt in the construction and development industry can be a solution to the increasing price of oil asphalt, some of which is imported at relatively expensive prices. This research was carried out with the aim of determining the depth and distribution of Buton asphalt at the research location using the ground penetrating radar (GPR) method. There were 17 routes used in this research, each with a different direction. The 2D radargram profile is produced through processing using PRIMS2 software with several stages such as Baground Removal, Bandpass Filter, Gain, Static Correction, and then horizon picking is carried out to determine the type of layer in the radargram. Based on the processing results, it can be seen that the natural asphalt mineral layer can be found at a depth of 3 - 5 meters and is distributed in the north - south and northeastern parts. Meanwhile, asphalt minerals associated with limestone are found in the depth range of 5 - 15 meters at the research location
