Abstract

In the pasting process, specifically at the finish station, the plates are dried and moved to a special rack every 450 plates (standard plate type CG80). However, currently the performance of the Counter Plate system is still not optimal, which causes a difference between the actual and standard number of plates. The main cause is the sensor's poor performance in detecting thin and dense objects well, as well as the external counter component being slow in its response speed. Apart from that, the plate separation system using a pneumatik cylinder is also ineffective, namely it often hits the plate and causes the plate to be rejected. The solution to overcome this problem is to recondition the Counter Plate Pasting system by replacing and adding better components, such as sensors with smaller beam spots and adjustabel sensitivity, as well as counter components that respond faster. These changes involve modifications to the wiring diagram design, PLC program, and mechanical design. Furthermore, the ideal speed of the paster konveyor and finish konveyor is also carried out so that the distance between the plates can be spaced (18 – 21 mm), to minimize sub-optimal sensor readings and reduce collisions between the pneumatik cylinder and the plate. This is done by classifying the relationship between the variabels of paster konveyor speed and finish konveyor speed, with respect to the distance conditions between plates using the Fuzzy logic method. From the results of this research, results were obtained in the form of a decrease in the average number of plates per row from the initial 31 plates to 12 plates, namely with a percentage decrease of 4.23% from the initial 6.9% to 2.67%.
