Abstract

An automotive manufacturing company adopted Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) to improve production efficiency and capacity. The AGV robot PIC faces difficulties in monitoring AGV robot operations and performing real-time troubleshooting while off the production line, with information on AGV problems reported via Handy Talky (HT). To solve the problem, a solution is proposed for the development and integration of AGV real-time monitoring system using data digitization from batteries, motors, and sensors on PLC, HMI, and Node-RED with Modbus TCP/IP protocol. Data transmission performance analysis was conducted to ensure system optimality by measuring delay, jitter, throughput, and packet loss using Wireshark based on ITU-T G.114 standards. The system was successfully integrated with FX3U PLC, Weintek MT8051iP HMI, and Node-RED. The results show an average delay value of 48.4 ms and packet loss of 0% when the AGV is idle, and an average delay value of 78 ms and packet loss of 0.07% when the AGV is running. The effect of Wi-Fi signals shows an average delay value of 76 ms and packet loss of 0.086% for medium signals, and an average delay of 150.5 ms and packet loss of 0.886% for low signals. The addition of a Wireless Access Point (WAP) extends the signal range, resulting in an average delay of 49 ms and packet loss of 0% on WAP 1, and an average delay of 64 ms and packet loss of 0.0475% on WAP 2. Continuous data transmission measurements (8 hours) show an average delay of 72.75 ms and packet loss of 0%. Based on ITU-T standard. G.114, the system integration of this AGV robot is in the good category.
