Abstract

Floods are a natural phenomenon that usually occurs in an area that is crossed by many rivers. In simple terms, floods can be defined as the presence of water in a large area so that it covers the surface of the earth in that area. There are many impacts caused by floods, not only material losses, floods can also cause loss of life. The impact of floods can be reduced if the community is better prepared to face the coming flood. This system uses a method of monitoring river water levels automatically by utilizing ultrasonic sensors connected to the ESP8266 module and the Blynk application on a smartphone. The methods used include measuring water levels with the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and sending data in real-time via the internet. If the water level reaches 30 cm, the system will activate the buzzer and send a danger notification, while at a height of 10 cm, a safe notification will be received. The test results show that at a water height of 10 cm, the system achieves 100% accuracy with a sensor error of 0%. At a height of 20 cm, the accuracy is 96% with an error of 5%, and at 30 cm, the accuracy is 93% with an error of 3%. The system designed in this final project is effective in providing early warning of potential flooding, increasing public awareness of the dangers of flooding, and facilitating real-time monitoring of water levels through modern technology.
