Abstract

The construction of the Simpang Indralaya-Muara Enim Toll Road, Section Simpang Indralaya-Prabumulih, experienced landslides after excavation was carried out at STA 62+450 to 62+825. Soil analysis indicated that the area consists of clayey sand with a stiff consistency, and cone penetration test (CPT) results revealed a mixture of silty sand to silty clay at a depth of 5 to 10 meters. The groundwater table is located far below the surface. The aim of this study is to examine the slope stability, the impact of rainfall infiltration, and the effectiveness of reinforcement methods using hydroseeding and retaining walls, as well as the factors influencing the landslides. The research methodology utilized the Slope/W and Seep/W programs from GeoStudio 2024.2.1. The study focused on calculating the safety factor (SF) for different rainfall durations (1 hour, 3 hours, and 5 hours). The results showed that the slip surface at the landslide location formed in water-saturated soil layers, causing slope failures such as creep or surface landslides. Rainwater infiltration worsened the slope stability by increasing the soil weight and reducing cohesion and shear strength. The SF decreased with increasing rainfall duration, with the highest decrease of 30.24% occurring after 5 hours of rainfall. The application of hydroseeding, using vegetation, improved slope stability, increasing the SF by 15.96%. The use of retaining walls (DPT) proved effective in enhancing slope stability, with an SF increase of 60.89%. Furthermore, slope stability was influenced by factors such as slope height, slope steepness, and the thickness of hydroseeding and DPT reinforcement, where higher and steeper slopes showed a decrease in SF. The study concludes that slope reinforcement through hydroseeding and retaining walls is essential for maintaining slope stability in the face of rainfall infiltration.
