Abstract
Salah satu metode pengendalian korosi dapat menggunakan pemakaian anoda korban
berdasarkan prinsip proteksi katodik berupa Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP).
Saat ini penelitian yang sedang dikembangkan yaitu penambahan unsur logam tanah jarang
untuk dipadukan dengan aluminium sebagai anoda korban untuk meningkatkan aktivasi,
kapasitas arus dan efisiensi anoda pada lingkungan garam seperti air laut. Sehingga penelitian
kali ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan unsur tanah jarang ytterbium
dengan variasi 2,13% ; 2,36% ; dan 2,59% serta pengaruh media elektrolit dengan variasi pH
6, 7, dan 8 terhadap efisiensi anoda korban paduan Al-Yb. Anoda korban paduan Al-Yb pada
penelitian kali ini diperoleh melalui proses pengecoran. Sampel pengujian efisiensi anoda
korban berbentuk silinder dengan diameter 10 mm dan panjang 50 mm dengan lubang
berdiameter sekitar 2 mm pada salah satu ujungnya. Pengujian yang dilakukan pada penelitian
kali ini antara lain, uji komposisi menggunakan Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) dan XRay Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy
Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX), Metalografi, Potensiodinamik, Uji Electrochemical Impedance
Spectroscopy (EIS), dan Uji Efisiensi Anoda Korban dengan standar DnVGL-RPB40.
Penambahan ytterbium pada aluminium dapat membentuk fasa eutektik Al + Al3Yb pada batas
butir matriks α-Al yang menyebabkan ukuran butir α-Al menjadi lebih halus dan seragam.
Penambahan ytterbium sebesar 2,13% dan 2,36% dapat meningkatkan laju korosi aluminium
murni, sehingga efisiensinya juga meningkat. Namun terjadi penurunan laju korosi pada
pemanbahan ytterbium sebesar 2,59% yang menyebabkan efisiensinya juga menurun. Hasil
pengujian efisiensi anoda korban menunjukkan pada variasi Al-0%Yb ; Al-2,13%Yb ; Al2,36%Yb ; Al-2,59%Yb pada larutan 3,4% NaCl pH 6, 7, 8 berturut-turut yaitu sebesar (84,50
; 85,73 ; 85,66 ; 85,36), (84,67 ; 84,78 ; 85,41 ; 85,29), (84,88 ; 85,63 ; 85,44 ; 85,74)

One method of corrosion control can use the use of sacrificial anodes based on the principle
of cathodic protection in the form of Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP). Currently,
the research being developed is the addition of rare earth metal elements to be combined with
aluminum as a sacrificial anode to increase activation, current capacity and anode efficiency in
salt environments such as sea water. So this study aims to analyze the effect of the addition of
rare earth elements ytterbium with variations of 2.13%; 2.36%; and 2.59% and the effect of
electrolyte media with variations of pH 6, 7, and 8 on the efficiency of the Al-Yb alloy
sacrificial anode. The Al-Yb alloy sacrificial anode in this study was obtained through a casting
process. The sacrificial anode efficiency test sample was cylindrical with a diameter of 10 mm
and a length of 50 mm with a hole of about 2 mm in diameter at one end. Tests conducted in
this study include composition tests using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) and X-Ray
Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy
Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX), Metallography, Potentiodynamics, Electrochemical
Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) Test, and Sacrificial Anode Efficiency Test with the DnVGLRPB40 standard. The addition of ytterbium to aluminum can form a eutectic phase of Al +
Al3Yb at the grain boundaries of the α-Al matrix which causes the grain size of α-Al to become
finer and more uniform. The addition of ytterbium of 2.13% and 2.36% can increase the
corrosion rate of pure aluminum, so that its efficiency also increases. However, there was a
decrease in the corrosion rate with the addition of ytterbium of 2.59% which also caused its
efficiency to decrease. The results of the sacrificial anode efficiency test showed variations in
Al-0%Yb; Al-2.13%Yb; Al-2.36%Yb; Al-2.59%Yb in 3.4% NaCl solution pH 6, 7, 8
respectively are (84.50; 85.73; 85.66; 85.36), (84.67; 84.78; 85.41; 85.29), (84.88; 85.63; 85.44;
85.74).
