Abstract

Furnace in PLTU is a vital component in energy generation through coal Combustion, but has significant risks such as explosion, fire, and gas leakage that can interfere with safety and
operations. This research uses the HAZOP method to analyze hazards in four main nodes, namely Fuel Supply System, Air Supply System, Burner System, and Control and Monitoring
System. The results show that 20% of the components have Extreme risks. Rare recommendations for Extreme components include the installation of check valves, automatic monitoring, and periodic inspections on 50HFE20AN001/PA FAN “B”, installation of temperature sensors and alarms on 50HFE33AA001/PULV C, and maintenance of cold Air dampers and flow alarms on 50HFE41AA001/PULV A. In addition, the implementation of an Emergency response plan (ERP), which includes employee training, fire simulations, and structured evacuation and fire-fighting procedures, is needed to minimize the impact of emergencies and ensure worker safety and the sustainability of furnace operations
