Abstract
Teori pertama, Genius Loci Towards a Phenomenology of Architecture, membahas pentingnya pemaknaan place dalam desain (tesis). Teori ketiga, Genius Loci : Hidden Truth or Hidden Agenda menentang pembahasan tentang pentingnya spirit of the place dalam desain (antitesis).

Throughout the development of architectural theory, the issue of the site has been a subject of theoretical debate. There are three theories about the site discussed using the dialectical method. The first theory, “Genius Loci: Towards a Phenomenology of Architecture”, explores the importance of the meaning of place in design (thesis). The second theory, “Place and Placelessness”, examines how place identity is formed and passed down through generations (reflective). The third theory, “Genius Loci: Hidden Truth or Hidden Agenda?”, opposes the discussion on the significance of the spirit of place in design (antithesis). The similarity of the three theories lies in the perspective that makes humans the center of interest in seeing the world. Modern architecture has developed not as a response to the needs of nature but rather by focusing on rational practices centered on humans. Therefore, the purpose of the final year project is to find out what if the architectural design is based on the ecocentrism perspective. This principle sees that everything, both living and non-living, works in balance within the ecosystem. The approach used in the design is symbiosis. This terminology borrows from the field of biological studies which refers to the relationship/interaction between two different elements. The design process is carried out within a framework that considers essential forces of the site. The method for formulating design ideas begins with a study of the parameters of tree properties as natural vegetation in Tesso Nilo National Park, Riau. The final outcome is an architectural design that is contextual to the activities, conditions, and regulations of the site.
