Abstract

Emisi karbon merupakan salah satu topik yang saat ini menjadi perhatian khusus bagi sektor transportasi dan industri. Tingginya jumlah emisi karbon di atmosfer menyebabkan penumpukan gas rumah kaca berlebih yang berujung pada pemanasan global. Bahan bakar minyak (BBM) merupakan salah satu penyumbang terbesar pelepasan emisi karbon keatmosfer saat ini. Untuk mengurangi emisi karbon tersebut diusulkanlah bahan bakar alternatif sebagai pengganti BBM, salah satunya adalah amonia (NH3). Amonia dipilih sebagai bahan bakar alternatif karena tidak mengandung unsur karbon. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untukmengetahui tata letak dan desain kapal, mengetahui pola operasi kapal, dan perbandingan biaya kapal berbahan bakar amonia dengan kapal yang menggunakan BBM. Penelitian diawali dengan penentuan owner requirement kapal, selanjutnya dilakukan proses perancangan kapal untuk mencari ukuran dan biaya pembangunan kapal. Metode optimasi dipakai untuk mengetahui ukuran kapal dengan perhitungan biaya termurah. Setelah biaya didapatkan dilakukan perbandingan untuk kapal berbahan bakar amonia dengan kapal BBM konvensional.Hasilnya adalah biaya penggunaan amonia sebagai bahan bakar lebih mahal dibandingkan kapal yang menggunakan BBM. Namun dengan mempertimbangkan pajak karbon, biaya kapal berbahan bakar amonia menjadi lebih murah karena pajak karbon untuk kapal yang menggunakan BBM jauh lebih besar dibandingkan pajak karbon kapal berbahan bakar amonia.

Carbon emissions are one of the topics that are currently concern the transportation and industrial sectors. High amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere causes accumulation of excess greenhouse gases which leads to global warming. Fuel oil is one of the largest contributors to the release of carbon emissions into the atmosphere today. To reduce carbon emissions, alternative fuels have been proposed as a substitute for fuel oil, one of which is ammonia (NH3). Ammonia was chosen as an alternative fuel because it does not contain carbon elements. The purpose of this study was to determine the layout and design of the vessel, to determine the operating patterns of the vessel, and to compare the costs of vessels fueled by ammonia with vessels using fuel oil. The study began with determining the owner requirements of the vessel, then the vessel design process was carried out to find the size and cost of building the vessel. The optimation method was used to determine the size of the vessel with the cheapest cost calculation. After the costs were obtained, a comparison was made for vessels fueled by ammonia with conventional fuel oil vessels. The result was that the cost of using ammonia as fuel was more expensive than vessels using fuel oil. However, by considering the carbon tax, the cost of vessels fueled by ammonia became cheaper because the carbon tax for vessels using fuel oil was much higher than the carbon tax for vessels fueled by ammonia.
