Abstract

Mekanika fluida merupakan salah satu ilmu pengetahuan yang berkaitan dengan manusia. Salah satunya adalah karakteristik aliran fluida melewati sebuah silinder sirkular yang merupakan salah satu jenis dari bluff body dan memiliki banyak aplikasi di kehidupan sehari�hari. Bluff body dapat menghasilkan wake yang besar, dimana wake tersebut mampu membentuk gaya drag yang besar juga. Maka dari itu perlu adanya pengurangan gaya hambat yang terjadi dengan cara penambahan bodi pengganggu. Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengaruh penambahan bodi pengganggu pada tiga silinder sirkular tersusun stagger. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada sub-sonic wind tunnel berdimensi (h = 300mm, z = 300mm, dan x = 600mm) menggunakan bilangan Reynolds (Re = 2,2x104) dengan variasi rasio jarak longitudinal (L/D = 1,5; 2; 3; 4), Dimensi diameter silinder sirkular utama (D = 25mm), diameter bodi pengganggu (d = 4mm), gap dengan silinder sirkular utama ( = 4 mm), sudut
bodi pengganggu (α = 0o, 90o, 270o) dan Rasio jarak transversal (T/D = 2). Tekanan diukur menggunakan pressure taps yang dipasang pada permukaan tiga silinder sirkular. Profil kecepatan diukur menggunakan pitot static tube yang dipasang dibelakang silinder sirkular. Hasil dari eksperimen yang telah dilakukan diperoleh pengaruh efek bistable pada silinder 2 dan silinder 3 untuk setiap variasi jarak longitudinal (L/D), dimana grafik (CP) pada upper side dan lower side tidak simetris. Hal ini disebabkan silinder 2 dan silinder 3 memiliki jarak transversal (T/D) 2, dimana pada jarak tersebut memasuki daerah bistable dengan susunan side by side. Penambahan bodi pengganggu 0o, 90o, 270o memberikan pengaruh terhadap nilai koefisien drag pressure (CDP), dimana terjadi peningkatan pada silinder 1 hingga 67%, serta penurunan pada silinder 2 hingga 25% dan silinder 3 hingga 35%. Selain itu pada nilai koefisien lift pressure (CLP) pada silinder 1 stabil mendekati 0, sedangkan pada silinder 2 mengalami penurunan hingga 189% dan silinder 3 mengalami peningkatan hingga 3443%. Dan nilai koefisien drag total (CDT) hanya mengalami penurunan pada variasi jarak longitudinal (L/D) 1,5 sebesar 18% dan hasil ini merupakan reduksi nilai koefisien drag total (CDT) yang paling efektif..

Fluid mechanics is one of the sciences related to humans. One of them is the characteristic of fluid flow through a circular cylinder which is a type of bluff body and has many applications in everyday life. The bluff body can produce a large wake, where the wake is able to form a large drag force as well. Therefore it is necessary to reduce the drag that occurs by adding a nuisance body. This study discusses the effect of adding a nuisance body to three circular cylinders composed of a stagger. This research was conducted on a sub-sonic wind tunnel with dimensions (h = 300mm, z= 300mm, and x = 600mm) using Reynolds number (Re = 2,2x104) with variations in the longitudinal distance ratio (L/D = 1,5; 2; 3; 4), Dimensions of main circular cylinder diameter (D = 25mm), interfering body diameter (d = 4mm), gap with main circular cylinder ( = 4 mm), disturbance body angle (α = 0o, 90o, 270o) and Transverse distance ratio (T/D = 2). Pressure is measured using pressure taps mounted on the surface of three circular cylinders. The velocity profile was measured using a pitot-static tube mounted behind a circular cylinder. The results of the experiments that have been carried out show the effect of the bistable effect on cylinder 2 and cylinder 3 for each variation of the longitudinal distance (L/D), where the graph (CP) on the upper and lower sides is not symmetrical. This is because cylinder 2 and cylinder 3 have a transverse distance (T/D) 2, which at that distance enters the bistable region with a side by side arrangement. The addition of a disturbance body 0o, 90o, 270o has an effect on the coefficient of drag pressure (CDP), where there is an increase in cylinder 1 to 67%, and a decrease in cylinder 2 to 25% and cylinder 3 to 35%. In addition, the lift pressure coefficient (CLP) in cylinder 1 tends to be stable near 0, while in cylinder 2 it decreases up to 189% and cylinder 3 has an increase of up to 3443%. And the total drag coefficient (CDT) only decreased in the longitudinal distance variation (L/D) 1,5 by 18% and this result was the most effective reduction in the total drag coefficient (CDT).
