Abstract

Erosion is one of the important indicators of land degradation and its impact on the environment. The Kambeng watershed, which is part of the Porong sub-watershed and Brantas sub-watershed, is one of the watersheds categorized as needing recovery according to information obtained through ForDAS Pasuruan Regency. Kambeng watershed often experiences soil erosion due to rainwater flow, which triggers erosion processes and increases the risk of flooding in areas with lower topography due to the carrying of soil particles from higher areas by surface flow. This research uses the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) method integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to calculate soil loss estimates based on several parameters, namely rainfall data, soil type, slope, land cover. This study aims to determine the distribution mapping of erosion events and areas that are most vulnerable to degradation, calculate the estimated soil loss, and estimate sedimentation due to erosion in the Kambeng watershed. The mapping results show that the most degraded area in the Kambeng watershed is in Prigen Subdistrict, with an estimated erosion intensity of 21,228.994 tons/ha/year. Meanwhile, the overall estimated erosion that occurs in the Kambeng watershed is 58,165.855 tons/ha/year with an estimated sedimentation volume of 1,207.529 tons/year which is 2.08% of the potential erosion that occurs.
