Abstract

Subsea pipelines are a vital means of transportation for meeting oil and gas supply needs. Before they can be operated, subsea pipelines must first be installed. In this final project, a reliability analysis was conducted on the structure of subsea pipelines during the installation process using the S-lay method, taking into account the effects of variations in installation depth and tension on the tensioner. The pipeline data used in this analysis is an API 5L Grade X65 standard pipeline with an SMYS limit of 450 MPa. The reliability analysis was conducted by examining stress criteria based on DNVGL ST F101. The von Mises stress obtained from the dynamic analysis serves as the failure mode to assess the reliability of the subsea pipeline structure under installation conditions. The analysis results show that the von Mises stress at the overbend is higher than at the sagbend. The von Mises stress trend also increases in both the overbend and sagbend areas. Meanwhile, the effect of tension magnitude on the tensioner varies under static and dynamic conditions. Under static conditions, an increase in tension tends to significantly reduce von Mises stress in both sagbend and overbend sections. Additionally, the researchers calculated the reliability under each variation of tension in the tensioner. The lowest reliability was observed at the 80 MT variation under all conditions.
