Abstract

Population growth in Indonesia, particularly in DKI Jakarta Province as the area with the highest rate of increase, poses significant challenges in ensuring equitable public facilities. Central Jakarta, one of the administrative cities with the highest population density, faces critical issues in the adequacy of parks as urban green spaces. Parks contribute greatly to urban sustainability, offering environmental, social, and economic benefits to communities. This study evaluates the spatial equity of park distribution using the Supply–Demand Equity Index (SDEI) and Supply–Demand Equity Planning Area (SDEIp). These indices are considered among the most accurate tools for assessing spatial equity as they integrate quantitative data and community preferences, providing results that better reflect actual field conditions than conventional methods. A total of 100 respondents were selected through purposive sampling and proportionate cluster random sampling to ensure fair representation across all districts. Results show the average distance to the nearest park is 390 meters, while the distance to residents’ preferred parks averages 3,429 meters. SDEI calculations reveal diverse spatial equity levels—oversupply, ideal, and undersupply—at the sub-district scale. SDEIp results indicate that overall park distribution in Central Jakarta is relatively ideal, though micro-scale disparities persist.
