Abstract

Pengaturan parameter rele seperti Time Dial Setting (TDS) sangat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja koordinasi proteksi.

In electrical power systems, a reliable protection system is essential to maintain power supply continuity and prevent equipment damage due to faults. One of the commonly used protection devices is the Inverse Time Overcurrent Relay (ITOC). The configuration of relay parameters, such as the Time Dial Setting (TDS), significantly influences the performance of protection coordination. Manual determination of TDS is often inefficient and time-consuming. Therefore, this study applies the Adaptive Modified Firefly Algorithm (AMFA) to optimize TDS settings in the electrical system of PT Kaltim Daya Mandiri. AMFA is an enhanced version of the Firefly Algorithm that addresses limitations in convergence and accuracy in solving multi-objective optimization problems. The study models the power system of PT Kaltim Daya Mandiri, identifies relay parameters, and calculates TDS using AMFA. The optimization results are compared with manual calculation methods. Based on simulations and analysis of three typical fault scenarios, AMFA produces more optimal TDS Function Values, enhances relay operation speed, and ensures proper coordination between primary and backup relays with acceptable Coordination Time Interval (CTI). This research demonstrates that AMFA is an effective and efficient alternative to conventional methods for TDS determination.
