Abstract

Sambaran petir merupakan salah satu gangguan utama pada sistem transmisi tegangan tinggi yang dapat menyebabkan tegangan lebih transien melebihi Basic Insulation Level (BIL), berisiko menimbulkan flashover dan kerusakan peralatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan titik optimal pemasangan Transmission Line Arrester (TLA) guna meminimalkan dampak sambaran petir pada Saluran Udara Tegangan Tinggi (SUTT) 150 kV Sangatta–Maloy. Metode yang digunakan adalah simulasi berbasis ATPDraw dengan pemodelan sambaran petir pada konduktor fase dan tanah, serta variasi lokasi dan besar arus impuls antara 10–100 kA. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa sambaran petir langsung pada tower T.149 dapat menghasilkan tegangan lebih hingga 3420 kV (melebihi BIL isolator 1025 kV), yang menyebabkan back-flashover. Dengan pemasangan TLA pada tower T.148 dan T.150, tegangan lebih yang merambat ke tower sekitar berhasil ditekan hingga di bawah 700 kV, serta tegangan puncak di tower T.142 dan T.156 turun menjadi masing-masing 372 kV dan 324 kV. Efektivitas TLA dalam mereduksi tegangan lebih mencapai lebih dari 80%, dan berkontribusi meningkatkan keandalan sistem transmisi terhadap sambaran petir hingga 70–90%. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pemasangan TLA secara selektif di tower-tower strategis untuk mencapai keseimbangan antara keandalan dan efisiensi biaya.

Lightning strikes are one of the main disturbances in high-voltage transmission systems, capable of generating transient overvoltages that exceed the Basic Insulation Level (BIL), leading to flashovers and equipment failure. This research aims to determine the optimal placement of Transmission Line Arresters (TLA) to minimize the impact of lightning strikes on the 150 kV High Voltage Overhead Transmission Line (SUTT) between Sangatta and Maloy. The method used is a simulation based on ATPDraw, modeling both direct and indirect lightning strikes on phase and ground conductors, with impulse currents ranging from 10 to 100 kA. Simulation results show that a direct strike on tower T.149 generates an overvoltage of up to 3420 kV (well above the 1025 kV BIL), triggering a back-flashover event. Installing TLAs at towers T.148 and T.150 successfully reduced the propagated overvoltage to below 700 kV, while peak voltages at towers T.142 and T.156 were reduced to 372 kV and 324 kV, respectively. TLA installation achieved over 80% overvoltage reduction and improved transmission system reliability against lightning disturbances by 70–90%. This study recommends selective TLA placement at strategic towers to optimize both reliability and cost-effectiveness.
