Abstract

Low Employee Performance levels pose a major challenge across various industrial sectors in Indonesia. This phenomenon is reflected in high turnover rates, burnout, and job dissatisfaction, which have a negative impact on productivity and organisational sustainability. These conditions have prompted research into strategic factors that can improve Employee Performance. This study aims to examine the influence of motivation and organisational culture on Employee Performance, with Employee Engagement serving as a mediating variable. The primary focus of the study is to analyse how the relationship between motivation and organisational culture can enhance Employee Performance through Employee Engagement as a mediating variable. The research approach used is quantitative, employing PLS-SEM. Data was collected from 163 respondents through the distribution of questionnaires to employees working in various companies in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that motivation significantly influences Employee Engagement and Employee Performance. Organisational Culture has a positive effect on Employee Engagement but not directly on Employee Performance. Meanwhile, Employee Engagement was not found to significantly mediate the relationship between motivation and Organisational Culture on Employee Performance. These findings have practical implications for companies in developing adaptive human resource management strategies focused on Employee Engagement, as well as theoretical contributions in understanding the relationships among the variables studied.
