Abstract

Pemanasan global yang disebabkan oleh peningkatan konsentrasi gas rumah kaca (GRK) di atmosfer telah menjadi isu lingkungan dengan dampak serius terhadap kehidupan manusia. Salah satu langkah untuk menindaklanjuti isu tersebut yaitu dengan inventarisasi emisi GRK. PT X sebagai pelaku usaha yang bergerak di industri kimia memiliki kewajiban untuk menghitung emisi GRK yang dihasilkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menghitung beban emisi GRK yang dihasilkan PT X, meliputi inventarisasi emisi Scope 1, Scope 2, dan Scope 3. Dengan demikian, dapat dilakukan identifikasi rencana mitigasi untuk mengurangi emisi GRK dari aktivitas PT X. Perhitungan emisi GRK dalam penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan metode inventarisasi emisi GRK pada panduan Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2006 untuk inventarisasi emisi langsung GRK pada Scope 1. Selain itu, perhitungan emisi fugitive langsung pada Scope 1 merujuk pada panduan inventarisasi oleh United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Untuk melakukan perhitungan emisi tidak langsung pada Scope 2 dan Scope 3, digunakan panduan inventarisasi Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa data sekunder yang didapatkan dari inventarisasi data oleh PT X. Inventarisasi emisi GRK yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menghasilkan emisi GRK Scope 1 sebesar 1.445,18 ton CO2eq pada tahun 2022, 1.395,43 ton CO2eq pada tahun 2023, dan 1.279,22 ton CO₂eq pada tahun 2024. Emisi Scope 2 sebesar 1.289,43 ton CO₂eq (2022), 1.239,10 ton CO₂eq (2023), dan 1.185,28 ton CO₂eq (2024). Sedangkan, emisi Scope 3 merupakan yang terbesar, yaitu sebesar 25.100,58 ton CO2eq tahun 2022, 24.455,62 ton CO2eq tahun 2023, dan sebesar 25.892,16 ton CO₂eq pada tahun 2024. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa emisi pada Scope 3 menjadi kontributor utama total emisi perusahaan. Alternatif program reduksi emisi difokuskan pada pengelolaan aktivitas beremisi tinggi, yaitu aktivitas pembelian bahan baku dan penggunaan listrik. Untuk mereduksi emisi dari bahan baku, dilakukan substitusi bahan baku fosil menjadi bahan baku bio-based. Kemudian, untuk mereduksi emisi dari penggunaan listrik, dilakukan instalasi panel surya berkapasitas 160 kWp. Langkah-langkah tersebut dapat memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap pencapaian target reduksi emisi GRK perusahaan.

Global warming caused by the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere has become an environmental issue with serious impacts on human life. One of the measures to address this issue is the inventory of GHG emissions. PT X, as a business entity operating in the chemical industry, is obliged to calculate its GHG emissions. The objective of this study is to quantify the GHG emission burden produced by PT X, including the inventory of scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emissions. This will enable the identification of mitigation plans to reduce GHG emissions from PT X's activities. The calculation of GHG emissions in this study is based on the GHG emission inventory method outlined in the 2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for direct GHG emissions inventory in Scope 1. Additionally, the calculation of direct fugitive emissions in Scope 1 refers to the inventory guidelines provided by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). For the calculation of indirect emissions in Scope 2 and Scope 3, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol inventory guidelines are used. The data utilized in this study consists of secondary data obtained from the emission inventory conducted by PT X. This study presents a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the years 2022 to 2024, covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Scope 1 emissions were recorded at 1,445.18 tons CO₂eq in 2022, 1,395.43 tons CO₂eq in 2023, and 1,279.22 tons CO₂eq in 2024. Scope 2 emissions reached 1,289.43 tons CO₂eq in 2022, decreasing to 1,239.10 tons CO₂eq in 2023 and 1,185.28 tons CO₂eq in 2024. Scope 3 emissions were the highest among all categories, amounting to 25,100.58 tons CO₂eq in 2022, 24,455.62 tons CO₂eq in 2023, and 25,892.16 tons CO₂eq in 2024. These results indicate that Scope 3 emissions are the dominant contributor to the company’s overall GHG emissions profile. In response to these findings, emission reduction efforts are strategically directed toward the highest-emitting activities: raw material procurement and electricity consumption. To address emissions from raw materials, the company adopts a substitution approach by replacing fossil-based materials with bio-based alternatives. Additionally, to mitigate emissions from electricity usage, a solar panel system with a capacity of 160 kWp has been installed. These measures are expected to contribute significantly to the company’s GHG reduction targets.
