Abstract

The rapid development of technology, particularly in telecommunications and data transmission, has led to the limited capacity of the radio spectrum due to the increasing number of wireless devices. Light Fidelity (LiFi) emerges as an alternative solution that utilizes visible light to transmit data through the air, making it highly suitable for indoor communication. This study evaluates the performance of Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-of-Sight (Non-LOS) propagation models in indoor LiFi systems. Simulations were conducted using MATLAB to analyze gain and received power parameters at various distances, while real-world measurements employed LED and fluorescent light sources under both noise and no-noise conditions. The results show that received power and gain decrease as distance increases, with LOS models providing significantly higher values than Non-LOS. The LED light source demonstrated a more linear performance trend, with an average gain reduction of 0.465 dB under no-noise conditions and 0.466 dB under noise conditions. The correlation coefficients obtained range from -0.95 to -1.00, indicating a strong negative relationship between distance and gain. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of LiFi propagation characteristics and supports the development of more optimized system designs for indoor environments.
