Abstract

L-Metionin merupakan asam amino esensial yang sangat dibutuhkan dalam industri pakan ternak, farmasi, dan pangan. Laporan ini merancang pabrik L-Metionin dengan kapasitas 1.000 ton/tahun menggunakan metode fermentasi berbasis Corynebacterium glutamicum dan bahan baku gula mentah (raw sugar). Proses produksi dipilih berdasarkan keunggulan metode biosintesis yang lebih ramah lingkungan dan menghasilkan L-Metionin dengan kemurnian tinggi dibandingkan sintesis kimia konvensional. Proses produksi menggunakan gula mentah sebagai sumber karbon dan amonium asetat sebagai sumber nitrogen. Penentuan lokasi pabrik mempertimbangkan ketersediaan bahan baku, aksesibilitas, tenaga kerja, serta infrastruktur industri, dengan kandidat utama di Batang, Jawa Tengah. Pembangunan pabrik ini diharapkan mampu mengurangi ketergantungan impor serta mendukung ketahanan pangan dan sektor peternakan nasional.

L-Methionine is an essential amino acid that is highly needed in the animal feed, pharmaceutical, and food industries. This report designs an L-Methionine production plant with a capacity of 1,000 tons per year using a fermentation method based on Corynebacterium glutamicum and raw sugar as the main feedstock. The production process is selected due to the advantages of biosynthesis, which is more environmentally friendly and produces L-Methionine with higher purity compared to conventional chemical synthesis. Raw sugar serves as the carbon source, while ammonium acetate is used as the nitrogen source. The plant location
is determined based on the availability of raw materials, accessibility, workforce, and industrial infrastructure, with Batang, Central Java selected as the primary candidate. The development of this plant is expected to reduce import dependence and support national food security and the livestock sector.
