Abstract

The toll road is one of the essential infrastructures aimed at meeting the need for fast and convenient access. The Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road is being constructed to improve connectivity and mobility for both the public and logistics, thereby accelerating economic development in the East Java region. In the Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road project from STA 45+300 to STA 46+000, an embankment with a height of 5 meters is planned, located on soft soil with an N-SPT value of less than 10 to a depth of 8 meters. This soft soil has low bearing capacity and the potential for significant settlement, with the compression rate potentially failing to meet the requirements of the Directorate General of Highways. This thesis aims to compare embankment materials and methods. The embankment is planned using a combination of soil and foam mortar layers: 100% soil, 25% foam mortar and 75% soil, 50% foam mortar and 50% soil, 75% foam mortar and 25% soil, and 100% foam mortar, with the addition of Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) or Replacement, and geotextile or pile reinforcement if necessary. The results show that the thicker the compressible soil, the greater the settlement; the thicker the foam mortar, the smaller the settlement; and the thicker the replacement, the smaller the settlement. It is also found that foam mortar embankments have more stable slopes and are more expensive than soil embankments. The most expensive embankment option selected costs Rp48,623,807,754.05.
