Abstract

PT.Vesinter is a domestic shipyard company with primary focused on shipbuilding and ship repair. The company is located in the waters around the Kabil area, Nongsa District, Batam City, Riau Islands Province. To support its productivity, PT.Vesinter plans land development through reclamation. The total planned reclamation area is 6,69 hectares. The design of embankments and shore protection is conducted by considering the local soil conditions. To determine the soil conditions in the reclamation planning area, soil investigations were conducted at ten borehole points. Based on the results of these investigations, it was found that the soil in the reclamation area is dominated of clay. This final project will develop a plan that considers all soil investigation results and does not only depend on the most critical soil conditions. The planned elevation of the reclamation area is +4,00 from LWS. The planning includes determine the embankment height, preloading, Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD), and alternative shore protection in the form of armour layer. The desired outcome of this final project is to provide a stable embankment plan, non-compresible, and safe from wave erosion. The results of this plan are expected to provide a safe and efficient of alternative shore protection for PT.Vesinter.
