Abstract
Pertumbuhan urbanisasi yang pesat merupakan hal yang tidak dapat dihindari. Namun, urbanisasi yang tidak terkontrol seringkali memicu permasalahan, seperti keterbatasan lahan dan polusi udara. Pada kondisi ideal, keberadaan ruang hijau dapat membantu meredam polusi udara, di ruang publik maupun ruang privat. Keterbatasan lahan membuat pengadaan ruang hijau di lingkup privat menjadi sulit. Salah satu solusi yang dapat diterapkan adalah memanfaatkan ruang vertikal. Untuk mendukung pemanfaatan ruang vertikal, dibutuhkan media tanam yang sesuai. Sayangnya, media tanam yang tersedia di pasaran masih memiliki beberapa permasalahan, dari sisi desain maupun siklus hidup produknya. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan tersebut melalui pendekatan green design dan berfokus pada kebutuhan pengguna. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dan pengembangan produk, dengan data yang diperoleh dari data primer dan sekunder. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan pengguna dan individu yang berkaitan dengan bidang produk, serta observasi langsung, sedangkan data sekunder berasal dari literatur seperti buku, jurnal, artikel, dan berbagai sumber informasi. Proses perancangan dimulai dari identifikasi permasalahan pengguna dalam merawat tanaman, dilanjutkan dengan analisis produk sejenis untuk menemukan peluang pengembangan. Hasil dari proses ini adalah rancangan planter vertikal dua sisi yang interchangeable, memungkinkan penggantian bagian jika terjadi kerusakan dan memudahkan pada tahap keberlanjutan. Produk ini juga menawarkan opsi ukuran dalam satu produk, dilengkapi sistem self-watering, dan dirancang agar dapat dibongkar pasang secara mandiri untuk mempermudah proses pemasangan. Produk diharapkan dapat berkontribusi menjadi pendorong gaya hidup yang lebih hijau dan ramah lingkungan di tengah keterbatasan ruang perkotaan.

The rapid growth of urbanization is an unavoidable phenomenon. However, uncontrolled urbanization often leads to various issues, such as limited land availability and air pollution. Ideally, the presence of green spaces can help mitigate air pollution, both in public and private environments. Yet, the scarcity of space makes it difficult to establish green areas in private settings. One potential solution is to utilize vertical space. To support vertical gardening, an appropriate planting medium is required. Unfortunately, the planting products currently available on the market still present several issues, particularly in terms of design and product life cycle. This design project aims to address those problems through a green design approach that focuses on user needs. The methods applied involve a qualitative approach and product development, with data obtained from both primary and secondary sources. Primary data were collected through interviews with users and individuals related to the product field, as well as direct observations, while secondary data were gathered from literature such as books, journals, articles, and various information sources. The design process began by identifying the problems users face in plant care, followed by an analysis of similar products to find opportunities for improvement. The result is a two-sided vertical planter design with interchangeable parts, allowing damaged components to be replaced easily and facilitating product sustainability. The product also offers different size options within a single unit, features a self-watering system, and is designed for easy assembly and disassembly to improve user convenience. This product is expected to contribute to promoting a greener and more environmentally friendly lifestyle, particularly in the context of limited urban space.
