Abstract
Jawa Timur sebagai provinsi strategis di Indonesia, mengalami pertumbuhan ekonomi yang pesat, terutama di sektor kepariwisataan. Destinasi wisata di bidang turisme merupakan daya tarik bagi suatu negara, Bandara Internasional Juanda sebagai bandara merupakan gerbang utama bagi wisatawan baik lokal maupun mancanegara untuk merepresentasikan budaya dan citra dari Indonesia. Terminal 1 kedatangan Bandara Internasional Juanda berperan sebagai gerbang utama bagi wisatawan dan pebisnis yang memasuki daerah ini, sehingga desain interior yang efektif menjadi penting untuk menciptakan kesan pertama yang positif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang ulang interior terminal dengan pendekatan konsep educational tourism yang memadukan elemen-elemen budaya lokal guna meningkatkan sense of place dan citra daerah Jawa Timur. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan campuran antara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, dengan menerapkan metode design thinking untuk memahami kebutuhan pengguna melalui wawancara mendalam dan analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi elemen budaya, seperti motif batik dan arsitektur khas, serta penyediaan informasi tentang destinasi wisata, dapat menciptakan lingkungan yang nyaman dan informatif bagi pengunjung. Hasil dari “Redesain Interior Area Kedatangan T1 Bandar Udara Juanda Dengan Pendekatan Konsep Educational tourism Guna Meningkatkan Sense of place Dan Citra Daerah Jawa Timur” diharapkan tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas layanan dan pengalaman pengguna, tetapi juga memperkuat citra positif Bandara Internasional Juanda sebagai simbol kemajuan dan keberagaman budaya Jawa Timur.

East Java as a strategic province in Indonesia, is experiencing rapid economic growth, especially in the tourism sector. Tourism destinations in the field of tourism are an attraction for a country, Juanda Airport as an airport is the main gate for tourists both local and foreign to represent the culture and image of Indonesia. Juanda Airport arrival terminal 1 acts as the main gateway for tourists and business people entering this area, so effective interior design is important to create a positive first impression. This research aims to redesign the interior of the terminal with an educational tourism concept approach that integrates local cultural elements to enhance the sense of place and image of the East Java region. The methodology used in this research is a mixed approach between qualitative and quantitative, by applying design thinking methods to understand user needs through in-depth interviews and data analysis. The results show that the integration of cultural elements, such as batik motifs and distinctive architecture, as well as the provision of information about tourist destinations, can create a comfortable and informative environment for visitors. The result of “Interior Redesign of Arrival Area T1 of Juanda Airport with Educational tourism Concept Approach to Improve Sense of place and Regional Image of East Java” is expected to not only improve service quality and user experience, but also strengthen the positive image of Juanda Airport as a symbol of progress and cultural diversity of East Java.
