Abstract

Pneumatic and hydraulic technologies are essential in the various industry, particularly in applications requiring high strength and accuracy, such as hydraulic embossing machine systems. Mastery of this technology is essential for students to prepare themselves for the demands of the industry. However, in the pneumatic and hydraulic laboratory at the Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering, ITS, The implementation of practical sessions often faces challenges such as limited availability of equipment, leaking or malfunctioning equipment, safety risks, and restricted time allocated for practical activities. Therefore, this study aims to develop a Virtual Reality (VR) application that simulates the hydraulic embossing machine practicum process, utilizing Unity and Oculus Quest 2 as visualization tools. The development process includes collecting real laboratory data, application creation, and testing using the Black Box Testing method and the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The test results showed that 35 out of 36 features functioned as expected (97.23%), and based on responses from 36 UEQ participants, five categories received an excellent rating, while one category received an above average rating. Therefore, the developed application can serve as an effective, safe, and engaging alternative learning medium to support practicum activities in the laboratory.
