Abstract

Bank sebagai lembaga keuangan memiliki peran penting dalam memberikan layanan optimal kepada nasabah. Namun dalam praktiknya, bank konvensional masih menghadapi tantangan besar, terutama terkait efisiensi layanan, desain tata ruang yang belum optimal, kenyamanan staf dalam bekerja, serta kurangnya adaptasi terhadap perkembangan digitalisasi layanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengoptimalkan desain interior kantor cabang Bank Mandiri Juanda Bogor sebagai salah satu kantor strategis, dengan pendekatan konsep Activity-Based Working (ABW) guna menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih efisien, fleksibel, dan selaras dengan kebutuhan operasional modern. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah design thinking, yang terdiri dari lima tahapan, termasuk empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif, observasi langsung, wawancara semi-struktural, studi literatur, dan analisis aktivitas kerja (task analysis) terhadap pengguna ruang. Implementasi ABW dilakukan melalui beberapa pendekatan, seperti pembagian zona kerja berdasarkan aktivitas, pengatuan layout untuk efisiensi sirkulasi, penyesuaian desain permukaan lantai dan plafon, relokasi posisi area layanan untuk mempercepat alur transaksi, pemberian kios mandiri, serta integrasi elemen furnitur multifungsi untuk mendukung fleksibilitas penggunaan ruang. Pada area back office, desain ruang kerja terbuka dikombinasikan dengan ruang privat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kerja staf yang beragam. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan efisiensi ruang, tetapi juga mendukung lingkungan kerja staf dengan memberikan kebebasan dalam memilih cara dan tempat bekerja yang paling sesuai. Selain optimalisasi fungsi ruang, rancangan juga mempertahankan identitas visual Bank Mandiri melalui penggunaan warna korporat, logo, serta elemen branding pada area-area strategis. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan desain berbasis Activity-Based Working mampu menjawab kebutuhan perbankan masa kini yang menuntut efisiensi, fleksibilitas, dan citra korporat yang kuat. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan desain interior yang tidak hanya fungsional dan inovatif, namun juga mampu meningkatkan produktivitas staf dan kualitas layanan nasabah di masa mendatang.

As financial institutions, banks play a crucial role in delivering optimal services to their customers. However, in practice, conventional bank branches still face significant challenges, particularly regarding service efficiency, suboptimal spatial planning, staff comfort, and limited adaptation to digital transformation in services. This study aims to analyze and optimize the interior design of Bank Mandiri Juanda Bogor Branch—one of the bank's strategic offices—by applying the Activity-Based Working (ABW) concept to create a more efficient, flexible, and operationally responsive workspace. The research adopts a design thinking methodology, consisting of five phases: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data collection techniques include a qualitative approach through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, literature studies, and task analysis on user activities within the space. ABW implementation includes various strategies such as zoning workspaces based on activity types, optimizing layout for circulation efficiency, adjusting floor and ceiling treatments, relocating service areas to streamline transaction flow, introducing self-service kiosks, and integrating multifunctional furniture to enhance spatial flexibility. In the back office area, an open workspace layout is complemented by private zones to accommodate diverse working needs. This approach not only optimizes space usage but also fosters a supportive work environment by offering staff greater autonomy in choosing how and where they work most effectively. In addition to functional improvements, the design maintains Bank Mandiri’s corporate identity through consistent use of brand colors, logos, and visual branding elements placed in key strategic areas. This study concludes that the Activity-Based Working approach provides a relevant design solution to meet the evolving demands of modern banking environments—where efficiency, spatial flexibility, and strong brand representation are critical. The results are expected to serve as a design reference that is not only functional and innovative but also capable of enhancing staff performance and the overall quality of customer service in the future.
