Abstract

========================================================================================================================
The use of glass waste as the main material in jewelry design is an innovative effort to reduce non-biodegradable inorganic waste. Contributing 2.47% of the total national waste generation, glass waste has great potential to be processed into products with high utility and aesthetic value. This design aims to develop environmentally friendly jewelry designs that are relevant to the character and lifestyle of Generation Z women in Indonesia. Research methods include field observations, interviews, consumer surveys, and material experiments for design exploration. Experimental results indicate that glass waste fragments with a thickness of 3–25 mm can be processed into safe, attractive, and functional jewelry elements. The resulting products include rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings with a contemporary design approach that emphasizes sustainability, comfort, and local identity. The design process also incorporates branding and storytelling strategies to build emotional connections with Generation Z consumers. Test results indicate that the majority of respondents expressed high interest in glass waste-based jewelry products. Thus, this research not only enhances the utility of glass waste but also contributes to the development of a sustainable jewelry industry in Indonesia.
