Abstract

The concept of coworking spaces has emerged alongside the advancement of information technology, which has fostered more flexible and collaborative work systems. In Indonesia, coworking spaces hold significant potential as collaborative environments that can be adapted to local cultural contexts. However, this potential is still rarely optimized—particularly in terms of furniture design. Seating facilities, in fact, play a vital role in creating a comfortable, inclusive atmosphere that supports social interaction. Indonesian society’s strong communal culture and habits of social interaction are reflected in the use of local elements, one of which is the lincak—a traditional seating furniture commonly used in various social activities. This study highlights the importance of designing furniture that is not only ergonomic and physically adaptive but also culturally contextual.By exploring the lincak as a cultural artifact through the ATUMICS approach, this research aims to respond to the need for coworking spaces that are more relevant to the interaction patterns and cultural values of Indonesian society. The design outcome will result in a set of lincak and table products that can be used in public spaces as both social and productive facilities. The designer product, consisting of a lincak dan adaptive table set, addresses the need for seating facilities in social-productive space, accommodating the typical Indonesian free-setting posture while supporting productive activities.
