Abstract

The rapid growth of digital financial services has significantly increased the adoption of e-wallet applications across various user demographics. While these platforms offer convenience and efficiency, not all users can access or interact with them easily. Elderly users and individuals with special needs often face considerable challenges due to inadequate accessibility design, which can lead to confusion, errors, and reduced adoption. This study aims to redesign the user interface of the Finpay Money e-wallet to improve its usability and accessibility for these specific user groups, employing a User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology. The research involved a series of observations and usability testing sessions conducted with elderly participants to identify key barriers in the original application. The insights gathered were used to inform an iterative design process, leading to targeted improvements. These included enhancing text readability, simplifying navigation, increasing the size and clarity of icons, and ensuring that core features were easier to locate and operate. The revised design was then evaluated for effectiveness in addressing previously identified issues. Results from the testing phase showed a notable improvement in task completion rates, reduction in user errors, and higher satisfaction levels among participants. The project’s final deliverables include a detailed Figma-based design prototype and a functional front-end iOS application that embodies the inclusive design principles developed through the study. This research contributes to the growing field of accessible user interface design in financial technology and provides practical recommendations for creating more inclusive digital financial services in Indonesia and beyond.
