Abstract
Astronomi adalah bidang ilmu yang mempelajari benda-benda langit dan fenomena lain yang terjadi di luar atmosfer bumi. Sejak era pra-sejarah, astronomi telah menjadi alat penting dalam kehidupan manusia dengan menyediakan dasar untuk kalender, navigasi, dan pemahaman lebih mendalam tentang siklus alam. Indonesia, dengan populasi besar dan bentang geografis yang signifikan, memiliki potensi luar biasa dalam berbagai bidang, termasuk astronomi. Namun, meskipun memiliki potensi ini, Indonesia tertinggal dalam bidang astronomi dan teknologi antariksa. Hal ini terlihat dari tidak adanya eksplorasi antariksa yang signifikan dan terbatasnya jumlah perguruan tinggi yang menawarkan program studi astronomi. Keunggulan geografis Indonesia, yang dilalui sekitar 13% garis khatulistiwa, merupakan peluang emas untuk mengembangkan ilmu dan teknologi antariksa. Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan keterbelakangan ini mungkin termasuk rendahnya minat publik dan pengetahuan terbatas tentang astronomi. Meskipun Indonesia memiliki beberapa planetarium, fasilitas ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dan tidak mendapatkan perhatian yang memadai dari masyarakat dan pemerintah. Planetarium seharusnya menjadi aset berharga dalam mempromosikan astronomi dan teknologi antariksa, karena dapat berfungsi sebagai pusat edukasi penting dan meningkatkan kesadaran serta minat publik terhadap bidang ini. Untuk mengatasi keterbelakangan tersebut, Indonesia perlu mengambil langkah strategis untuk meningkatkan minat dan pengetahuan tentang astronomi di kalangan pelajar dan masyarakat umum. Salah satu pendekatan dasar yang dapat diterapkan adalah memperluas pengetahuan umum tentang astronomi dengan cara yang menyenangkan dan menarik. Dengan mengintegrasikan elemen edukasi dan hiburan dalam galeri planetarium.

Astronomy is a scientific field that studies celestial bodies and other phenomena occurring beyond Earth's atmosphere. Since prehistoric times, astronomy has been a crucial tool in human life, underpinning the development of civilizations by providing the basis for calendars, navigation, and a deeper understanding of natural cycles. Indonesia, with its large population and significant geographic span, holds exceptional potential in various fields, including astronomy. However, despite this potential, Indonesia lags behind in astronomy and space technology. This is evident from the lack of significant space exploration and the limited number of higher education institutions offering astronomy-focused programs. Indonesia's geographic advantage, being crossed by about 13% of the equator, provides a golden opportunity to advance space science and technology. Factors contributing to this lag may include low public interest and limited knowledge about astronomy. Although Indonesia has several planetariums, these facilities are not optimally utilized and lack adequate attention from both the public and the government. Planetariums should be valuable assets in promoting astronomy and space technology as they can serve as vital educational centers and enhance public awareness and interest in the field. To address this lag, Indonesia needs to take strategic steps to increase interest and knowledge about astronomy among students and the general public. One fundamental approach is to expand general knowledge about astronomy in a fun and engaging manner. By integrating educational and entertaining elements in planetariums, astronomy can be made more attractive and accessible, fostering greater awareness of its importance in everyday life.
