Abstract

Pengendalian persediaan yang efektif dan efisien sangat penting untuk mendukung kelancaran operasional perusahaan, khususnya pada consumable items yang memiliki nilai penggunaan tinggi serta karakteristik permintaan yang tidak stabil. PT XYZ selama ini menerapkan metode continuous review (S,Q) secara seragam untuk seluruh item, tanpa mempertimbangkan variasi nilai dan pola permintaan, yang dapat menyebabkan inefisiensi biaya dan penurunan kinerja pelayanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelompokkan consumable items berdasarkan analisis ABC dan ADI-CV, membandingkan performa metode pengendalian persediaan antara continuous review dan periodic review (R,S), serta memberikan rekomendasi kebijakan pengendalian yang sesuai. Hasil klasifikasi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar nilai konsumsi berada pada kelas A, dengan karakteristik permintaan yang didominasi oleh pola lumpy dan erratic. Berdasarkan hasil simulasi, metode periodic review dengan interval peninjauan T = 3 bulan memberikan peningkatan fill rate yang signifikan, terutama pada item kelas A-lumpy, sedangkan periodic review dengan interval T = 6 bulan menghasilkan service level tertinggi pada sebagian besar kombinasi item kelas A. Di sisi lain, metode continuous review tetap memberikan kinerja biaya terbaik, khususnya untuk item kelas B dengan permintaan erratic. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan metode pengendalian persediaan yang tepat sangat dipengaruhi oleh kombinasi klasifikasi nilai dan karakteristik permintaan. Oleh karena itu, direkomendasikan penerapan kebijakan pengendalian yang disesuaikan, yaitu periodic review untuk item kelas A dan continuous review untuk item kelas B, guna mencapai keseimbangan antara efisiensi biaya dan efektivitas layanan dalam pengelolaan persediaan consumable items di PT XYZ.

Effective and efficient inventory control is essential to ensure smooth operational performance, especially for consumable items with high usage value and irregular demand patterns. PT XYZ currently applies a uniform continuous review (S,Q) method across all items without considering variations in item value and demand characteristics, which may lead to cost inefficiencies and reduced service performance. This study aims to classify consumable items using ABC and ADI-CV analysis, compare the performance of continuous review and periodic review (R,S) inventory control methods, and provide appropriate policy recommendations. The classification results indicate that most of the consumption value is concentrated in class A items, with demand predominantly categorized as lumpy or erratic. Simulation results show that periodic review with a 3 month interval significantly improves the fill rate, particularly for class A items with lumpy demand. Meanwhile, a 6-month periodic review yields the highest service level for most class A items, although accompanied by increased inventory costs in some cases. On the other hand, the continuous review method demonstrates superior cost efficiency, especially for class B items with erratic demand. These findings suggest that the optimal inventory control strategy should be tailored to both item classification and demand behavior. Therefore, it is recommended that PT XYZ implement a differentiated policy: periodic review for high-priority (class A) items to enhance service level, and continuous review for medium-priority (class B) items to optimize costs. This approach is expected to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of consumable item inventory management within the company.
