Abstract

Increased public interest in sea transportation, especially on executive ferries, demands improvements in terms of comfort, interior visuals, and inclusive facilities. One of the main challenges still faced is the lack of accessibility for people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired, as well as the visual interior of the ship that does not yet reflect the company's identity optimally. KMP. Portlink III, as the largest executive ship owned by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, has been operating for 39 years and undergone several renovations, but has not been able to fully answer the needs of accessibility and visual branding strategies. The redesign of the ship's interior was carried out using the design thinking method, through the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test, to find the right solution based on user needs. The design approach used integrates local cultural values as the basis for the formation of the company's visual identity. The design concept combines Sumatran and Javanese cultural elements in the interior visuals to build a strong image that is consistent with ASDP's character as a national crossing service provider. The main objective of this re-design is to create an interior space that is comfortable, functional, and inclusive for all passengers, including people with disabilities. The design results are expected to improve the travel experience, strengthen the visual identity of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, and become a reference for the design of executive passenger ships that excel in aspects of accessibility and culture-based branding.
