Abstract
kecepatan putar konstan 2900 rpm.
Wrap angle 90o
menghasilkan head tertinggi sebesar 12,60 meter pada kapasitas 56,6 lpm, namun memiliki
efisiensi paling rendah yaitu 30,84%. Sebaliknya, wrap angle 160o memberikan efisiensi
merata sehingga efisiensi meningkat.

Centrifugal pump is a tool used to move liquid fluid from a low surface to a higher surface or
move fluid from one place to another. One of the main components of a centrifugal pump is the
impeller, which plays an important role in increasing the head value and efficiency of the pump.
The type of impeller, especially the semi-open impeller, is often used to handle fluids with high
viscosity such as molasses. In this study, a numerical study was conducted to analyse the effect
of variations in the wrap angle on the semi-open impeller on the efficiency of the centrifugal
pump, the variations in the wrap angle used include 90o, 115o, 130o, 145o, 160o and 180o. The
impeller geometry modelling was designed using SolidWorks software, while fluid flow
simulation and performance analysis including pressure, velocity, head, power and efficiency
were carried out using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. All simulations were
conducted under a constant rotational speed of 2900 rpm to ensure consistent evaluation across
all variations. This study is expected to provide recommendations for the optimal wrap angle
design to increase the efficiency of centrifugal pumps, especially in high-viscosity fluid
applications. The simulation results show that changes in the wrap angle significantly affect
the hydraulic performance of the pump. A wrap angle of 90° produced the highest head of 12.60
meters at a flow rate of 56.6 lpm, but had the lowest efficiency of 30.84%. On the other hand,
a wrap angle of 160° provided the highest efficiency of 32.80% with a lower head of 12.11
meters. This trend indicates that larger wrap angles increase the fluid flow path length, leading
to more frictional losses and lower head, but enable more even energy distribution, thereby
improving efficiency. Therefore, the selection of the wrap angle should be adjusted to the
system's objective, whether prioritizing high pressure or energy efficiency.
