Abstract

Serenity in Motion : Penerapan Teori Displacement untuk Mendukung Interaksi dan Mobilitas di Ruang Transit mengeksplorasi tantangan dan potensi yang dihadapi kota-kota besar, khususnya dalam konteks ruang publik yang terbatas. Keterbatasan ruang publik menghambat penciptaan kualitas hidup yang optimal di tengah kesibukan perkotaan. Ruang transit, yang sering dianggap sekadar sebagai area peralihan, memiliki potensi untuk ditransformasi menjadi lingkungan yang mendukung ketenangan dan kenyamanan.
Pendekatan Transit Oriented Development (TOD) diusulkan sebagai strategi perencanaan yang terintegrasi dengan sistem transportasi publik, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas dan mengurangi ketergantungan pada kendaraan pribadi. Dalam konteks ini, pergerakan (movement) dan ketenangan (stillness) muncul sebagai elemen kunci yang saling melengkapi. Movement mencakup dinamika manusia dan transportasi di ruang transit, sementara stillness menekankan pentingnya desain yang mampu meredakan kesibukan. Konsep dualitas di sini menunjukkan bagaimana elemen yang bertentangan dapat berinteraksi dan hidup berdampingan dalam suatu desain. Displacement berperan sebagai katalis dalam menciptakan kesadaran akan pentingnya mempertahankan keberadaan lokal di tengah perubahan yang cepat melalui pengalaman runag yang dihadirkan. Dengan metode perancangan layering, diharapkan ruang transit di Kota Surakarta dapat dirancang untuk menjadi lebih dari sekadar tempat peralihan, tetapi juga sebagai ruang publik yang mampu mendukung interaksi sosial dan mobilitas perkotaan yang padat.

Serenity in Motion: Applying Displacement Theory to Support Interaction and Mobility in Transit Spaces explores the challenges and opportunities faced by large cities, particularly in the context of limited public spaces. The scarcity of public spaces hinders the creation of optimal quality of life amid urban bustle. Transit spaces, often perceived merely as transitional areas, hold the potential to be transformed into environments that promote tranquility and comfort.
The Transit Oriented Development (TOD) approach is proposed as a planning strategy integrated with public transportation systems, aiming to improve accessibility and reduce dependency on private vehicles. In this context, movement and stillness emerge as key, complementary elements. Movement encompasses the dynamics of humans and transportation within transit spaces, while stillness emphasizes the importance of designs that alleviate urban busyness. This duality concept demonstrates how contrasting elements can interact and coexist within a design. Displacement acts as a catalyst in fostering awareness of the importance of maintaining local identity amidst rapid changes through the spatial experiences provided. By employing a layering design method, it is hoped that transit spaces in the city of Surakarta can be designed to be more than just transitional spaces but also public spaces that support social interaction and mobility within the dense urban environment.
