Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of a booster pump in the freshwater supply system on a passenger ship using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. The ship under study requires a reliable distribution of freshwater to meet the needs of the crew and passengers during the voyage. Manual calculations were carried out to determine the freshwater demand and the total head required by the pump, while CFD simulations were used to evaluate head performance across various RPM values. The results show that the total head required for the system is 17.53 meters, with a static head of 10 meters. Based on the simulation, RPM variations between 1300 and 1450 produce high and stable pressure, making this range the optimal rotational speed. This numerical approach has proven effective in designing an efficient and stable freshwater distribution system in maritime environments.
