Abstract
Bow thruster merupakan komponen penting untuk menunjang kemampuan manuver kapal, terutama dalam kondisi sempit seperti saat sandar di pelabuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan kemiringan pada desain grid tunnel bow thruster terhadap peningkatan performa manuver kapal KMP Jatra 1. Insiden kerusakan yang dialami kapal tersebut menuntut penggantian sistem bow thruster dengan desain yang lebih efisien. Metode yang digunakan adalah pemodelan ulang geometri bow thruster dan variasi kemiringan grid sebesar 28° hingga 32°, serta simulasi menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SolidWorks Flow Simulation. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap parameter gaya dorong (thrust), torsi, dan daya yang dihasilkan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa desain grid dengan sudut kemiringan tertentu mampu mengurangi hambatan aliran, meningkatkan efisiensi, serta mengoptimalkan performa sistem manuver kapal dibandingkan model grid lama.

The bow thruster is a crucial component for enhancing a ship’s maneuvering capability, particularly in confined spaces such as during berthing operations. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding slope angles to the tunnel grid design of the bow thruster on improving the maneuvering performance of the KMP Jatra 1. Following significant damage to the vessel, a redesign of the bow thruster system was required to achieve higher efficiency. The methodology involves geometric remodeling of the bow thruster and varying grid slope angles from 28° to 32°, followed by simulation using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) through SolidWorks Flow Simulation. The evaluation focuses on thrust, torque, and power output. Results indicate that specific grid slope designs can reduce flow resistance, improve efficiency, and optimize the vessel's maneuvering system performance compared to the previous grid model.
